Origins 2017

Well, we're finally back after taking a little break from the blog.  Our schedules have become more complicated in the last several months and other priorities in our lives have taken precedence.  After driving a few hours through many cornfields, and then followed by a few more hours of cornfields, we arrived at Origins once again in Columbus Ohio to celebrate the 5 best days of board gaming. This is our second convention of the 2017 season and this is when things start to pick up before continuing on to the massive convention that is GenCon. As always, GAMA has delivered and improved upon a few things this year and just like last year, the convention went exceptionally well! From June 14th through the 18th, The Greater Columbus Convention Center welcomed thousands of guests from all over to bask in the strategic, fun, and family focused environment of tabletop gaming that Origins has to offer. The theme this year was dragons so we anticipated large groups playing D&D.  Come with us once again as we venture fourth within the walls of the Columbus Convention Center for one of the best board gaming conventions there is.

Who's Yer Con 2017

Once again, Con Season is here!  Just like previous years, we are kicking off 2017 with one of our local conventions held at the Wyndham West Hotel in Indianapolis known as Who's Yer Con.  For any that are unaware, this is a free tabletop gaming convention put on by Who's Yer Gamers.  The convention has been continuing to grow every year.  The hard work, dedication and passion for the hobby shows at the convention, along with the staff, and other personnel from Who's Yer Gamers that continue to bring awareness of the hobby not just to the city of Indianapolis, but branching out to the entire state of Indiana each year.  Let's take a closer look into what this year has brought us.

Thoughts About Gen Con 2016

With all of the good things that Gen Con does to accommodate people, it still has some drawbacks that it could significantly improve upon with very little effort required.  This segment is not designed to cause trouble.  We have a lasting respect for the event and are more than grateful that it’s available only 20 minutes away from us.  What we are doing is addressing legitimate concerns that can easily be remedied which would significantly improve the overall experience for every person who attends Gen Con.  There are issues that do significantly impact the people who attend, and that should be discussed.  Please read on and give your thoughts regarding the post and anything else that you want to say.

Gen Con 2016

Another year of Gen Con has come and gone for us.  We've had some ups and downs this year, and for the first time, we will be splitting two separate topics and segments on a convention into two posts.  This means we have more that we can fit into our segments so to hopefully not overwhelm our readers, while still providing a plethora of short reviews.  This year a couple of events fell through for us, and we ended up demoing more games, which is great considering that 2016 has had some excellent games releasing!  This is all the more reason for us to provide an influx of games this year.  We've met some new gamers, caught up with some friends, played a lot of new games, and this year Claire and I decided to celebrate our 10 year anniversary at Gen Con!  As usual though, we will provide plenty of details to showcase our experience and some of the current hot games on the market.  After you've read over your favorite games on this segment, be sure to check out our second portion of this segment where we discuss some issues about Gen Con that really need to be addressed.

Origins 2016

This year Claire and I attended Origins for the first time as press members.  Last year Origins had a unique attendance of 15,938 and with the vastly increasing popularity of tabletop games, I would anticipate it was a significant and successful increase for the convention at Columbus Ohio.  We had a chance to meet up with multiple venders, play some new games, and surprisingly run into some personal friends of ours from our hometown of Fishers Indiana!  Read on to learn about our awesome weekend!

Who's Yer Con 2016

Once again we've returned to Who's Yer Con for another great event of socializing with the locals from Indy and other hoosiers from all over the state. For those of you who have not read our previous post from last year, Who's Yer Con is a free convention that takes place at the Wyndham West Hotel on the SouthWest side of Indianapolis.  It was another great year and Claire and I had a chance to make some new friends and play some new tabletop games.

PentaCon 2015

I like to think that our blog is a tiny corner of the internet where we provide helpful information to other tabletop gamers and enthusiasts everywhere.  Hopefully this segment will be another one of those instances, because the most important thing is that the readers receive the truth.  Whenever a gaming convention is put on, there is supposed to be a sense of pride in the air.  There should be a feeling of confidence that the surrounding people really put in a lot of hard work and preparation to represent their city and state.  This convention ended up not being what we had expected at all.  Read on to learn about this unfortunate event.

Gen Con 2015

This week we take a look at the four greatest days of gaming, Gen Con which is held in the Indianapolis Convention Center downtown.  It's like Christmas during the summer!  Today was the last day for Gen Con, but before I bid it farewell for another year, I'm going to share my thoughts about the experience.  One of the most fascinating things about Gen Con aside from thousands of tabletop games, is the massive volume of people that come from all over the world to be there.  Claire and I worked as volunteers this year and we met and spoke to people not only from all over the US, but from all over the world.

Who's Yer Con 2015

This week for boards & brews Claire and I attended Who's Yer Con which was held at the Wyndham West Hotel located on the southwest side of Indianapolis.  This convention offered game stores, a game library, cosplay, comics, and workshops for FREE.  We played several new games this weekend so read on to learn more about this wonderful convention.
